'True' QB Passing Efficiency
'True' QB Passing Efficiency is a part of Suited Football's 'True' QB stats. This section aims to measure a quarterback's actual passing efficiency on a week-to-week basis by noting what their decisions and ball placement should have led to, accurately accessing a quarterback's true performance. This section records passes only.
-
Throw aways, screens, go-passes at/behind LOS, settling on 3rd and long all excluded
-
Deep ball = 20+ air yards, Medium = 10-19 air yards
-
All passes inside, outside numbers must travel at least 5 air yards to qualify. All throws 5-10 air yards marked inside parenthesis, 10+ outside; combine for all throws. Some throws on numbers may not be recorded for inside, outside.
-
Errant throws are a measure of total throws completely off the mark, whether harmless or not - excludes throwaways + miscommunication
-
Perfect throws are defined by throws 15+ yards downfield that perfectly hit a pass-catcher in stride; typically, but not limited to big YAC by pass-catcher
-
Any penalty excludes all results, EXCEPT roughing
-
Passing efficiency is NOT ONLY a mark of [should've been] completion vs incompletion, but efficiency (staying on schedule/getting 1st on 3rd) vs no efficiency. Example: A 5-yarder on 3rd and 9 followed by a punt is recorded as a miss in all applicable categories
What are 'True' QB stats?
'True' QB Stats/efficiency is a stat-line designed by Suited Football to put a quarterback in a box, tallying what should've happened based on the quarterback's decision making and ball placement instead of what actually happened - eliminating devastating drops, among other things - to show how efficient each quarterback actually performed each week.
